同時に一部改良を実施、8月8日に発売
トヨタは、ヤリス クロスを一部改良するとともに、GR SPORTとZ“Adventure”を新設定し、8月8日に発売すると発表した。今回の改良では、ドライブレコーダー付自動防眩インナーミラーが全車にオプション設定されたほか、Zグレードの内装色にブラックが新設定されている。

走行性能の向上を図ったGR SPORT
ヤリス クロス GR SPORTは、TGRが展開するスポーツカーシリーズ「GR」が目指す、“モータースポーツを起点としたもっといいクルマづくり”で培った知見を活用し、ボディ剛性の強化や足回りのチューニング、パワートレーンの改良により、走行性能の向上を図ったモデル。
ヤリス クロスのスポーティなスタイリングとSUVならではのユーティリティをそのままに、市街地からワインディングまで、意のままに操れるクルマとして、実用性とスポーティな走行を両立させたという。ヤリス クロス GR SPORTの投入により、「GR SPORT」の日本国内のラインアップは計6車種となった。
その開発には、WRCで勝つために開発されたGRヤリスの開発ドライバーも携わり、細部の部品にまで改良を加え、「GR」の“走りの味”を「GR SPORT」でも継承することを目指したという。ヤリス クロス GR SPORTの主要な装備は以下の通り。
専用剛性アップパーツ
ベース車の高いボディ剛性をより高水準なものにするため、フロア下とロアバックにブレースを追加。操縦安定性の向上とフラットな乗り心地に寄与するとのこと。

専用サスペンション＆電動パワーステアリング制御
運動性能向上に向け車高を10mm下げるとともに、スポーツタイヤ「FALKEN FK510 SUV®」を装着。同時に、ブッシュ、コイルスプリング、ショックアブソーバー、電動パワーステアリングを、よりスポーティな特性にチューニング。軽快な走りとクルマとの一体感のある操縦性を実現したという。
専用パワートレーン制御＆ドライブシャフト（ハイブリッド車）
モーターの過渡特性を最適化し、加速、減速時のアクセルレスポンスを向上。また、モーター駆動のレスポンスをよりダイレクトにタイヤに伝えるため、ドライブシャフトのねじり剛性を向上させ、スポーティな走りに磨きをかけるなど、パワートレーンにも改良を加えたとしている。

フロントのフォグベゼル、リアディフューザーが専用意匠となる。ラジエーターグリル（アッパー・ロア）、リアバンパーロアカバーはGRの‘G’をモチーフにしたメッシュタイプへ意匠変更したほか、専用18インチおよびアルミホイール（切削光輝／センターオーナメント付）、および、GR SPORT専用エンブレムを装着。
