約296㎡の巨大フラッグを牽引！
シボレーは9月末、ピックアップトラックである「シルバラード」の2017年モデルに設定する「シルバラードHD」で、牽引能力のギネス世界記録を達成したと発表した。
シルバラードHDには、445ps/1234Nmを発揮する6.6リッターV8ターボディーゼル「デュラマックス」エンジンが搭載され、シルバラード史上最大の牽引能力を発揮する。
ギネス世界記録に挑んだのは、3186平方フィート（約296平方メートル≒テニスコートの1.13倍）という超巨大なフラッグを地面に触れさせないまま100m走行するというもの。シルバラードHDは、テキサス・モータースピードウェイのオーバルコースでこれを見事達成。フラッグを路面に触れさせないまま4周を走りきった。
なんともアメリカらしい、華々しい話題とともに登場した2017年モデルのシボレー・シルバラードHD。アメリカ市場ではフォードF150シリーズと人気を分けるピックアップトラックとして、さらにプレゼンスを高めたといえる。
