4万ピースと3週間をかけた力作
今年は6月18日から19日にかけて、フランスのサルテ・サーキットを舞台に繰り広げられるル・マン24時間レース。開催を間近に控え、参戦チームには緊張感が高まりつつある。そんな中、フォードがル・マンの会場において「LEGO（レゴ）」ブロックで製作したGTのレースカーを展示するという、なんともユニークな企画を発表した。
実車の1/3スケールで作られたれたLEGO製GTレーシングカーは、およそ4万ピースが使用され、完成までに3週間を要したとのこと。完成までの道のりは決して楽ではなかったはず。強い忍耐力が必要だったに違いない。忍耐といえば、ル・マンで24時間を闘い抜くのにも強靭な忍耐力が要る。このLEGO製GTレーシングカーがフォードレーシングチームの目にとまり、士気が高まるとともにリラックスしてレースに臨めるといいのだが……。
なおこのLEGO製フォードGTは、レーシングモデルのほか、伝説的なGT40（＃66）も作られた。製作時の様子は下記YouTubeで確認できる。
